1:15 PM - DEPART Myers Park

1:30 PM - ARRIVE at Pure Land Farm (admission is free to GDOGC
paid 2019 members, guests pay a small $10
entrance donation - additional details below)

3:30 PM - DEPART Pure Land Farm
4:00 PM - BUS ARRIVES back at Half Price Books

or you can pay her at the bus on the morning of the trip.

Myers Park
Acres of preserved nature, award-winning gardens, and spectacular
countryside provide a beautiful backdrop for our morning.

We'll be touring and enjoying the perennial, annual, shade, children's, grape, vegetable/potager, and herb gardens!

"Myers Park and Event Center was originally created as the Collin County Youth Park in 1969
with acreage donated by John and Winnie Myers. Now with more than 158 acres,
in addition to its lush landscape and event venues, we are also privileged to partner with 
The Collin County Farm MuseumTexas A&M AgriLife Extension Service,
and the Collin County Master Gardeners."
Picnic Lunch - Myers Park Pole Barn
If you choose, a delicious, locally sourced boxed picnic lunch from Patina Green Home and Market 
is available for $15 per person.

Complimentary water and iced tea will be provided by the Club.

You may select from the following sandwiches or salad. Each choice is only $15.

Sandwich choice #1Hickory smoked ham, farmstead cheese,
jalapeno peach jelly on jalapeno cheddar loaf bread. Includes potato salad,
red chili slaw, and chocolate chip cookie
- Sandwich choice # 2Roasted turkey breast, feta, baby arugula,
pickled red onions, Parmesan aioli, on whole grain bread. Includes potato salad,
red chili slaw, and chocolate chip cookie.
- Sandwich choice # 3Pimento cheese, field tomato mixed greens,
whole grain mustard on country white bread. Includes potato salad,
red chili slaw, and chocolate chip cookie.
- Salad choice. House green salad with pickled cauliflower, carrots,
red onion, chickpeas, and pumpkin seed quinoa with local honey mustard vinaigrette.

If you do not wish to purchase lunch, of course you're free to bring your own.

Anyone may also bring their own beverages, but please, alcohol is not allowed.

Pure Land Farm
(please note - admission to the Farm is free to paid 2019 members
as a membership perk. Guests will be asked to pay a small $10 entrance donation) 
Pure Land Organic Farm occupies 28 acres in McKinney, Texas.
The primary farmers are Jack and Megan Neubauer, a father-daughter team
who made the leap together from corporate life to full-time farming in 2012.
"Together, they share the planting and harvesting duties,
but Jack drives the tractors and maintains their irrigation systems.
Megan manages their social media and uses her past experience in a microbiology
lab to get their soil to a healthier state. Though husband Allan works full-time at a finance job,
he still helps out—sometimes in the fields, sometimes crunching numbers in the office.

This year, they’re focusing on crops that have proven to grow well—

blackberries, melons, summer squash, sweet potatoes, garlic, onions,

kale and hot peppers. They’ll also keep trying new varieties as long as it’s a good fit for their soil..."

Father and daughter agree that they are grateful for how the entire process has unfolded.

“If we had had all the money in the world from day one,” says Megan. “We would have gotten a lot wrong.”

Along with an overview of herbs and spices, Connie will take you through planning, the important “needs” for growing herbs, when is the best time to harvest, how best to preserve your herb bounty, as well as the many uses of herbs.


Connie, the owner of C & J Farms - 20 acres which include the herb farm, 52 goats and 2 livestock guard dogs - uses sustainable, natural, and organic gardening methods with no pesticides.
